This procedure enhances the size and shape of the breasts, but it doesn’t repair severe sagging breasts. In certain cases, however, a mastopexy can be performed at the same time. Patients who are not satisfied with the size of their breasts often undergo this procedure. Additionally, patients who suffered from breast disease such as cancer, where breast tissue has been removed, also benefit from this procedure.
In order to do a breast augmentation, you will be admitted to the hospital as an inpatient, where the surgery will be done under general anesthesia, requiring one or two days stay.
In this surgery, an implant made of cohesive silicone gel is inserted; this can increase the woman’s breast by one or more cup sizes. The location of the implant can be in front or behind the pectoralis muscle. All your questions and expectations as well as the procedure details will be discussed largely at the initial consultation with your surgeon.
